QoLT's Takeo Kanade wins Bower Award
DrQoLT Center Director Takeo Kanade has won the Bower Award and Prize for
Achievement in Science, given annually by the Franklin Institute. The
Prize is given in a different research area every year; this is the
first year that it has been awarded for work in Robotics. Nominations
are solicited widely and the competition is intense for this prestigious
award. The monetary prize is $250,000. The award citation follows:
"The 2008 Bower Award and Prize for Achievement in Science is presented
to Takeo Kanade for visionary leadership and scientific accomplishments
in the design of perceptual robotic algorithms and systems that function
in the physical world."
