Center for Advanced Engineering Fibers and Films (CAEFF)New Horizons in the World of PolymersAmong the population groups underrepresented in science and engineering, Hispanics comprise the fastest growing population in South Carolina. To address this situation, the Center for Advanced Engineering Fibers and Films (CAEFF), an Engineering Research Center headquartered at Clemson University, in partnership with a local church-based program, "Nuevos Horizontes (New Horizons)," and the Clemson University 4-H Youth Development Program, is conducting a series of programs for Hispanic middle and high school students from upstate South Carolina. These students visit the Clemson University campus regularly and participate in hands-on activities led by CAEFF undergraduate and graduate students. CAEFF students teach the young visitors about polymer synthesis, polymer processing, and material properties; promote careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines; and generally convey their love for discovery!
